How to Make Matcha Tea (Hot or Cold)

I make matcha tea every day . . . well, actually, twice a day. It has replaced my morning coffee, and I love it in the evenings as well. You'll get no jitters from matcha because it is a different kind of caffeine that induces a calm state. It has skin-promoting and skin-healing qualities and can even help you lose weight, which I myself have noticed. Check out my article to learn more: Matcha Tea and Me.

Instructions

Hot Matcha

  • Heat up 2 ounces of water to 180ºF and pour it into a cup or bowl. Scoop 1 teaspoon of your Matcha Tea Powder and add it to the water.
  • Blend the matcha powder by whisking with a small handheld mixer or Bamboo Tea Whisk. You’ll know it’s ready when a froth begins to form at the top.
  • In a pan or milk frother, heat up or froth 3-6 ounces of almond milk or any other type of milk you prefer, based on how strong you want your matcha to be.
  • Place warmed milk in your matcha tea, drink, and enjoy!

Cold Matcha

  • Scoop 1 teaspoon of your Matcha Powder and add it to 2 ounces of cool water.
  • Blend the matcha powder by whisking with a small handheld mixer or Bamboo Tea Whisk. You’ll know it’s ready when a froth begins to form at the top.
  • Add 3-6 ounces of cold homemade almond milk or any other type of milk you prefer, based on how strong you want your matcha to be. Add ice and enjoy.
