10 Ways to Use Your Over-Fermented Kombucha!
Kombucha is a wonder drink. This fermented tea has been around for centuries and is a legend in many countries such as China, Russia, and Korea. There are even stories that Genghis Khan drank it often and gave it to the men in his armies. It can become a part of your life very quickly and the next thing you know, you’ll have your very own brew fermenting on your counter. It’s cheap and easy to make, but if you leave it fermenting too long it can get a strong taste, and actually will turn to vinegar which will stay perfectly preserved. If your kombucha tea ever gets too strong for your taste, don’t throw it out!
10 Different Ways!
#1: Save As A Strong Starter Tea For Your Next Batch
Over-fermented kombucha makes a wonderfully strong starter tea! You can store it in a glass container with a lid or with a cloth and rubber band; both are fine and you can then use it as the starter tea for your future kombucha brews. Make a note that your batches used with stronger starter tea can finish a day or two earlier than normal.
#2: Strong Kombucha Can Be Used As A Household Cleaner
Kombucha can make a natural cleaner without chemicals that could hurt you or the environment.
When making this, make sure that your kombucha has aged for at least a month and then add a few ingredients to make a great cleaner. It will last for months and keep cleaning your house.
The low pH and acetic acid content of the kombucha vinegar prevent mold and bacteria from growing. Adding kombucha and tea tree oil or essential oils adds antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal qualities to your cleaner. It works great on all kinds of surfaces be it countertops, showers, or tubs.
You can strain the kombucha in a strainer to remove yeast strings and floaty things that occur in your kombucha brew. Use it like you would a household cleaning vinegar.
#3: Make Your Own Apple Scrap Vinegar!
Don't throw away the peels and cores from your apples! Save these "scraps," add some honey, water, kombucha, and a SCOBY. Let this ferment and you've just made some delicious Apple Scrap Vinegar.
#4: Make A Marinade For Meat Or Veggies!
We have a spicy marinade that is delicious on fish, chicken, beef, or veggies. This recipe is loaded with fresh herbs, spices, jalapeno, olive oil, garlic, ginger, and kombucha vinegar.
Marinate for a few hours and you’ll find you use this on all different types of recipes, foods, and meals. Don’t forget that it’s fantastic on veggies, too!

SCOBY hotels are quite the conversation piece. To create your SCOBY hotel, just store your extra SCOBYs in a large mason jar and cover them with your extra-strong starter tea.
